On the 13th of February 2024, Normandie played the third concert of their ”Dopamine“ tour in the small and cosy venue Die Kantine in Cologne. Even though it’s a small venue, it was twice as big as their last played venue in Cologne, Club Volta, back in 2022.

They kicked off the evening with ”Serotonin“, the second song of their latest album Dopamine, already creating a magical vibe with the first song.

For “Hourglass” Philip Strand, Normandie’s lead singer, also filled in Daniel Winter-Bates’ (Bury Tomorrow) part of screaming and definitely didn’t disappoint!

In between songs Philip explained to us that his bandmates challenged him to wear his jacket for as long as possible on stage, but during “Awakening”, the sixth song of their set, he finally gave in and took off his jacket.

Integrating the crowd, in general, created a warm and family environment which could be perceived throughout the whole venue.

Soon after they performed Collide, which won the Instagram vote against Mission Control.

For every concert of their Dopamine tour, the band set up an Instagram story with the option to vote for one of two songs to be played the evening of the concert, varying for each city - another way to integrate their fans!

For the twelfth song guitarist Håkan Almbladh and touring bassist Jules Wildblood let the audience choose between “Dead” and “Overdrive”, which was won clearly by “Dead”.

They ended their set with “White Flag” which was the song that persuaded me to listen to them when it got recommended to me through Spotify’s “Discover Weekly” playlist a few years ago.

We left the venue very happy and satisfied with the experience we just collected, but also with the reclaimed knowledge of the importance of hearing protection for further concerts - some venues definitely are much more demanding to your ears than others and Die Kantine in Cologne is one of them. Nonetheless, it was a great concert with a great sound and a great atmosphere!

Normandie is a band that clearly cares about its fans and makes them feel heard and seen!
