After four years away, The Interrupters are back with new music. The Los Angeles band have released “Warrior Spirit,” a new single built around resilience, fearlessness and the personal battles people carry without others knowing. The track arrives with a new music video and marks the band's return ahead of a busy 2027.
“Everyone is usually fighting some kind of battle that no one else can see but within each of us lies a warrior spirit that begs us to find our own fearlessness,” vocalist Aimee Interrupter says.
Musically, “Warrior Spirit” brings together ska rhythms, new wave synths and a strong dance-focused feel. The track also features an impressive group of collaborators, with The Interrupters working alongside Tim Armstrong, Jesse Michaels, Travis Barker and Brett Gurewitz. Guitarist Kevin Bivona says the song came together through a particularly fun studio process. “This was a super fun collaboration with so many musicians we admire,” Bivona says. “We created this song with Tim Armstrong, Jesse Michaels, Travis Barker, and Brett Gurewitz. It was a big dance party in the studio every time this track played.”
The band also wanted to bring some early-1980s new wave influence into their sound. “It's got that ska upbeat, but we're also tipping our hat to our favourite early 80s new wave bands,” Bivona adds.
The band will also return to the road in 2027 for an extensive North American tour covering more than 30 dates across the US and Canada. The run includes shows in Brooklyn on April 4, Philadelphia on April 6, Montreal on April 9 and a hometown performance at Los Angeles' Wiltern Theatre on April 30.
