French metalcore heavyweights Resolve, who garnered widespread acclaim for their sophomore album Human released in September 2023, have officially announced an upcoming deluxe edition of the album, titled Human (Extended Cut). This expanded edition is set to drop on Friday, October 25, 2024, via Arising Empire. Building upon the intense and emotional landscape of the original album, the deluxe version promises to include brand-new, unreleased tracks and a special live performance recording, ‘The Fire, The Aftermath, The Everlasting.’
To celebrate the announcement, Resolve have unveiled a new single titled ‘Molotov,’ marking their first release since the original Human album. The track not only represents a continuation of the thematic exploration of their previous work but also pushes the boundaries of their sound with a fierce blend of aggression and metallic atmospherics. The song delves deep into contemporary issues like the rise of Artificial Intelligence, merging past narratives with present anxieties.
Vocalist Anthony Diliberto shared insights into the single’s thematic undertones, stating, “‘Molotov’ is an incendiary track, relentless and aggressive. I feel like upon the first few seconds of the track, you get the message clear as day: we’re here to shake the earth to its core. It’s very much a follow-up, an epilogue even, to 2023’s lead single ‘Human.’” He went on to describe the narrative continuation, “Decades after the machine’s overtaking of earth and humanity, the cycle begins again, and a new hope for humanity arises when a robot inexplicably starts behaving like an actual living person. When you stand out so much from the crowd, does that make you a leader or a pariah?”
The single’s bold exploration of these themes showcases Resolve’s ability to merge storytelling with their signature heavy sound. The forthcoming Human (Extended Cut) is set to build upon the world shaped by the original Human album, adding depth and breadth to the band’s narrative universe.
Bassist Robin Mariat explained the significance of this release for the band, “This is a new form of release for us, which is very exciting. We get to build up on the world that we shaped for ‘Human,’ and these new tracks are the continuation of the story.” He added, “These new tracks definitely have something for everyone, whether you like the heavier side of Resolve, or if you are more into our melodic capabilities.”
The announcement of the Human (Extended Cut) deluxe edition comes ahead of an intense touring schedule for Resolve. The band will join UK metal giants While She Sleeps on their upcoming UK tour, alongside Currents and thrown, as well as their European leg with Malevolence and thrown. The tour kicks off in Paris on November 6, 2024, and includes back-to-back nights at London’s prestigious O2 Forum, Kentish Town.
