Floridian rock band Rain City Drive has announced the release of their new single, "Concrete Closure," set to drop on September 6th via Thriller Records. This track marks the final single before their highly anticipated album Things Are Different Now, scheduled for release on September 27th. Following the success of previous singles "Neverbloom," "Frozen," and "Medicate Me" (featuring Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker), which have collectively amassed over 12 million streams, "Concrete Closure" promises to deliver another powerful punch in the band's evolving discography.
“Concrete Closure” is an upbeat rock anthem that dives into the unresolved tensions of a relationship that refuses to end, capturing the frustration of someone who is desperate to close a chapter that the other party keeps reopening. The song speaks to anyone who has ever been caught in the limbo of a relationship that lingers in the grey area between being over and still very much alive. With its driving melodies and poignant lyrics, the track showcases Rain City Drive’s unique ability to fuse emotional depth with infectious energy.
On the new single, lead vocalist Matt McAndrew explains, "‘Concrete Closure’ aims to capture the frustration of ending a relationship with someone who, under the pretense of seeking closure, is merely trying to prolong the breakup and find a way back into your life. Even when it’s clear that the chapter needs to be closed for good."
This dynamic sound reflects Rain City Drive’s continued push to break new ground, evolving from their post-hardcore roots into a more expansive pop-rock territory. Formed in 2020, the band's journey began when McAndrew met guitarists Felipe Sanchez and Weston Richmond, bassist Colin Vieira, and drummer Zack Baker in Manchester, England. The rainy atmosphere of the city not only brought the band together but also inspired their name. Since their inception, Rain City Drive has been committed to exploring new sonic landscapes, balancing heavy riffs with soaring vocals and poetic lyrics.
As Rain City Drive prepares to release Things Are Different Now, they aim to deliver an album that pushes their boundaries while staying true to their core. “We wanted to expand the umbrella we created within To Better Days,” McAndrew said, “whether to explore our poppier side or dive into different lyrical themes.”
