If there’s one thing Radio Free Alice doesn’t do, it’s mince words. Their latest single, “Empty Words”, is a shot across the bow—a searing, dissonant takedown of performative activism that arrives wrapped in angular guitar lines and frontman Noah Learmonth’s unmistakable, throaty croon.

“‘Empty Words’ came out of a jam like most of our songs do,” Learmonth shares. “It was in some downtime between shows while we were in the UK last year. Lyrically, it’s about the feeling of social stagnation that I think a lot of young people in our generation feel.” That frustration pulses through every note of the track, with jagged riffs and a creeping, claustrophobic energy that threatens to boil over. It’s a song that doesn’t just criticize the lack of action—it embodies the tension of wanting change but seeing none.

Sonically, Radio Free Alice pulls from a post-punk lineage that stretches from The Smiths to Parquet Courts, crafting a nervy, high-energy sound that has already caught fire across Australia and Europe. Their reputation for dark, sweaty, high-voltage live shows has put them on festival stages, supporting The Killers, and now, headed straight for America—first for SXSW in Austin this March, then Shaky Knees in September.

With "Empty Words", the Melbourne quartet cements their place as one of Australia’s most exciting young bands, proving that when they have something to say, you damn well better listen.
