Porch Light have released their debut album, Hush, via Mom + Pop. Recorded at Pachyderm Studios with producer Caleb Wright. Hush brings together riff-driven rock songs and stripped-back ballads, with vocalist Jackie Uhas providing a consistent focus through her wide-ranging and direct delivery. The album reflects the band's experience playing live and develops that material into a full-length studio release.
“Arctic” and “Under” introduced the album ahead of its release. “Arctic” focuses on commitment, longing, and the desire for a deeper relationship, building around wiry guitar parts and Uhas's vocals before reaching its final release. “Under” takes a heavier approach, using prominent riffs, strong vocals, and a driving rhythm.
The band's most recent double single, “Paranoia” and “James,” adds two different perspectives on relationships. “Paranoia” addresses manipulation, intoxication, and a relationship becoming increasingly difficult to control. “James” focuses on finding love again after the narrator had concluded that another relationship was no longer possible.
Overall, Hush captures Porch Light at a pivotal point: a band shaped by two years on the road, now turning that experience into a confident full-length debut. It’s an album that makes clear what Porch Light are capable of and where they can go next.
