POPPY WIZARD Release New EP Point & Shoot

Alt-rock outfit POPPY WIZARD is dropping their new three-song EP, Point & Shoot, featuring the long-awaited single “Blue Ruin.”

“I wrote the lyrics during a period when I was feeling very down,” shares guitarist Lukas Andrzejewski. “The song is about how people can deceive themselves, because in today's fast-paced and superficial world, people say or do things that ultimately have no meaning for them or are fake.”

Since their first live show, “Blue Ruin” has always been the band’s closing number, with fans regularly asking when it would finally be released. Inspired by the movie of the same name—introduced to the band by drummer Phil—the track even closes with a quote from the film.

Point & Shoot also features the previously released “Maze” and “Eraser,” with a sound that’s already earned them attention in the emo and shoegaze scenes following their 2024 debut EP Holy Spirit Gang.

Formed in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns in Düsseldorf and Cologne, POPPY WIZARD has evolved from a two-man project into a four-piece united by a love of loud guitars and emotional depth. Their music straddles the worlds of fuzz rock, grunge gaze, and atmospheric shoegaze, melancholic, dreamy, and unapologetically energetic.
