Multifaceted singer-songwriter and producer Party Nails has released her latest single, Same Old Song, via Eye Knee Records. This new indie rock track offers a nostalgic look into the past while embracing the fun and freedom of the present. With a sound that blends honey-soaked vocals, lush guitars, and irresistible melodies, Same Old Song captures the essence of a heartfelt diary entry set to a dreamy, lo-fi soundtrack.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Party Nails—whose real name is Elana Carroll—shares, “For a while, I called this Through The Trees, because that image of looking through the trees for my childhood self was the impetus for writing the song.” During the challenging period of lockdown, Carroll found herself revisiting her idea of home, which led to an introspective conversation with her younger self. “I wasn’t angry with her, or sad with her... I was just documenting our co-existence,” she explains.
The single is enriched by the dynamic drumming of Anna Crane, which elevates the energy and complements Carroll's poignant lyrics. The refrain, featuring lines like “I’ve been drinking, I’ve been thinking, I’ve been crying, I’ve been dreaming,” resonates deeply, providing a relatable glimpse into the complexities of emotional vulnerability.
Same Old Song comes ahead of Party Nails' highly anticipated third album, Pillow Talk, set to release in early 2025. This upcoming album marks a new chapter for Carroll, who has partnered with Eye Knee Records, co-founded by musicians Holly Miranda and Amb. Parsley, under the guidance of label head Elissa Young.
Party Nails has been captivating audiences since her debut on Neon Gold’s blog in 2015 with the single Break. Since then, she has toured alongside prominent acts like PVRIS and Lights, building a devoted fanbase through her energetic live performances, which blend influences from pop icons like Madonna, Hayley Williams, and Sheryl Crow.
In addition to her solo work, Carroll has collaborated with various artists and contributed music to films and television shows, including Glass, Girls, and The L Word: Generation Q. She also runs her recording studio, Top Coat, in Los Angeles, where she produces and mixes music for both her projects and other artists.
With Same Old Song, Party Nails showcases her signature blend of introspective pop and indie rock, inviting listeners into her world of personal reflection and emotional exploration.
