Cardiff punk quintet Panic Shack are back with their first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2025. The new single, “grin & bear it,” arrives ahead of the band’s first-ever North American headline tour.

The track nearly appeared on the band’s debut record but was held back until it fully matched the energy the group wanted. Produced by Ross Orton, “grin & bear it” channels frustration and exhaustion into a loud, fast-moving release. The lyrics were originally written during a late-night shift in 2023, giving the song a personal foundation that remained central through its many revisions.

“This song has had many iterations, seen many a practice room and taken many forms,” the band explain. “It’s a song that we’ve felt really passionate about getting right, but the music was never fully hitting.”

The band, completed by Meg Fretwell, Romi Lawrence, Emily Smith, and Nick Doherty-Williams, spent months reworking the track while balancing touring and day jobs before finally landing on the finished version.

“It almost made it onto our debut album, but it just wasn’t where it needed to be,” they say. “We felt it didn’t have enough grit until now. We really clicked with Ross in the studio and are super proud of what the track has become; it sounds massive.”

Alongside the single, Panic Shack also released a self-directed video filmed during their recent headline tour across Germany. The footage captures the energy and spontaneity that have become central to the band’s live reputation.

“We took this to another level when recording the video,” the band say. “The whole video is filmed and directed by us while on our recent tour in Germany. It was work work work, grind grind grind… but of course we had a blast doing it.”

Following a breakout year that included a UK Top 40 album and their biggest headline shows to date, Panic Shack are preparing for a packed summer of touring across North America, the UK, and Europe. The band say they are especially eager to bring “grin & bear it” to audiences for the first time.

“We’re really excited to play ‘grin & bear it’ live this summer,” they say. “Hopefully it’ll give people a release, where they can let loose with us and maybe even let out a big fat scream.”
