New York City’s rising five-piece DIY band, Monobloc, drops their latest single, “Irish Goodbye,” a raucous anthem capturing the social anxieties of navigating youth in a new city. Premiering today alongside a self-directed music video, the track blends Monobloc’s signature post-punk charm with fresh sonic complexity, featuring a brief but captivating flute solo.
Lead vocalist Timothy Waldron explains the inspiration behind the song: "In the fall of 2022, I was religiously watching a live video of Eric Burdon and War performing Spill The Wine. I was new to the city, still finding my crowd, and ducking strong characters at every turn. This song slipped out of that experience."
With its catchy melodic rock and intricate guitar arrangements, “Irish Goodbye” cements Monobloc’s place as one of New York’s most exciting emerging bands. Following the success of their debut singles “Where is My Garden” and “I’m Just Trying To Love You,” the group continues to push boundaries, drawing praise from major outlets like Rolling Stone UK, NME, and Paste Magazine.
Monobloc’s live reputation has skyrocketed, with recent performances at festivals like All Points East and Rock En Seine, as well as a sold-out residency at Manhattan’s Pianos. This fall, they’re set to headline shows in London and Manchester and appear at Corona Capital Festival and Iceland Airwaves.
October 26 – United Sounds NYC Festival – Brooklyn, NY
November 7 – Iceland Airwaves – Reykjavík, IS
November 8 – Deaf Institute – Manchester, UK (Debut Manchester headline)
November 9 – Third Man – London, UK (Debut London headline)
November 17 – Corona Capital Festival – Mexico City, MX
Stay tuned as Monobloc continues their rise, bringing a fresh mix of indie rock and post-punk attitude to the global stage.
