Midland Railway's Bedroom Analysis Review

Manchester band Midland Railway are back with their latest single ‘Bedroom Analysis’ released on 6th December.

This magnetic and catchy track instantly draws you in with quirky lyrics, electrifying guitars, and energetic drums. Their alt-punk and nerd indie rock style shines through in ‘Bedroom Analysis’ with Nick on vocals, Sarah on bass, drums by Billy, and Andy on guitar. With their debut album set to be released on Friday 14th February, ‘Bedroom Analysis’ is the start of an exciting new era for Midland Railway.

Midland Railway take musical influences from Weezer, The Smiths, and Bright Eyes, creating a unique fusion of 80/90s geek indie rock and alternative post-punk. Punchy lyrics in ‘Bedroom Analysis’ describe the poignant feeling of liking someone who doesn’t feel the same way and overthinking the next steps to take from your bedroom. The nerd-indie track dives deep into the emotions caused by insecurity and unreciprocated feelings whilst layered with catchy guitar instrumentals and gripping rhythm.

Originally formed in 2004, Midland Railway have played several local gigs over the years, including a recent show at Manchester Academy 2, as well as a headline performance at the International Pop Overthrow festival in Liverpool in 2024.

Their diverse discography displays the band’s love for their hobbies and passions, such as their debut single ‘A Pokémon Adventure’ discusses the ins and outs of the battle-fiction video game, whereas their last released track in 2022, ‘She Loves Ted Bundy’, explores finding comfort in serial killers.

The Manchester four-piece already have a jam packed 2025 booked ahead! Make sure to catch them alongside Forest Fawn in Salford on 11th January, as well as their set supporting the Manchester five-piece Ur Ex Bf at Night & Day on 23rd February.
