Makari Kick Off Thriller Records Era With New Single “Speed Freak”

Orlando-based alternative rock outfit Makari have officially signed with Thriller Records and marked the occasion with the release of their new single and music video, "Speed Freak."
The track is the band's first release through the label and offers a first look at the next stage of their career. Alongside the announcement, Makari shared their excitement about the partnership.
“We’re very excited to be joining Thriller, and can’t wait to share all we’ve been working on together,” the band said. “We’ve been DIY for a bit, but it feels like we’ve found the right partnership and team that feels just as passionate about our work as we do. This is only the beginning, so buckle up and enjoy the ride.”
Drummer Kevin Beljan also spoke about the inspiration behind "Speed Freak," describing it as a song rooted in memory, imagination and love.
“This song came from memories. This song came from fantasy. Or rather, this song was written somewhere in-between the two,” Beljan explained. “'Speed Freak' is my attempt to convey the exhilaration of profound and boundless love.”
According to Beljan, the song was inspired by memories of California drives, films he watched with his father and daydreams shared with his partner. The result is a track centred on connection, freedom and living in the moment.
