Brighton four-piece Lime Garden are back with news of their second studio album, Maybe Not Tonight, due out soon via So Young Records. Following the sharp, off-kilter energy that’s become their signature, the band are easing us into this next chapter with the release of its lead single, “23.”
The track comes with a slightly surreal backstory. Vocalist and guitarist Chloe Howard explains that the song was inspired by a dream in which she found herself face-to-face with her younger self — not exactly a gentle reunion. That uneasy self-reflection made its way into the lyrics, while a rainy January jam session, fueled by a Happy Mondays–style groove, helped shape the song’s bassline. The track is equally fun and chaotic as it captures that familiar feeling of growing up.
Alongside the album announcement, Lime Garden have also revealed a run of UK tour dates this October, giving fans a chance to experience the new material live. Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday, January 23.
