Kublai Khan Tx have recently dropped their heavy-hitting new harcore album entitled Exhibition of Prowess. The release marks their first full length album since 2019, which includes brutal breakdowns and heavy vocals that have become the group’s calling card.
Vocalist Matt Honeycutt cuts deep with scathing lyrics paired with an equally heavy musical performance that will have you itching for the pit. The album opens with “Supreme Ruler”, a track that begins with spoken word, calmly encouraging the audience to reflect before punching through the veil of composure with the first breakdown of the album.
The song sets the tone for the rest of the album, whose aggressive guitars are accompanied by drums that perfectly punctuate each growl, riff, and distortion. Kublai Khan Tx lyrics have always spoken to a broad range of listeners, and this new release is no different. They weave an emotional tapestry depicting betrayal, struggles with sobriety, and standing up for yourself, all reflecting the darker sides of life that the audience craves to be acknowledged.
“Antpile 2” closes out the album, harkening back to the band's most popular song, ”Antpile”. Short, sweet, and almost completelysans-lyrics, the final song gives the listener a chance to digest the experience with the assistance of the band’s iconic breakdowns.
Kublai Khan Tx is currently on tour in the US before heading to Europe and the UK in early January.
