East Coast indie rock duo Joyer, the project of brothers Nick and Shane Sullivan, are dialling in with news of their next full-length record, On The Other End of the Line…, out October 24, 2025, via cult-favorite label Julia’s War Recordings.
The album was recorded in Chicago’s Palisade Studios and produced by Henry Stoehr of Slow Pulp, and the first single, “Cure”, drops today, and it's the kind of track that makes small moments feel cinematic.
“This song is about loneliness and searching for connection in any and every place,” Shane Sullivan shares. “I wrote this one from the perspective of a made-up character, but it definitely has some personal feelings mixed in. I was thinking a lot about how a small or seemingly inconsequential interaction with a stranger at a bar or a customer service worker over the phone can be meaningful or fulfilling.”
“Cure” floats along on twinkling and twangy guitars, as Joyer name-drops the upcoming record’s title in a track that feels like a quiet conversation overheard in a café. The song is accompanied by a yellow-hued music video that captures the small wonders of everyday New York life: pigeons, laundry, rooftops, and the gentle hum of a city always half-awake.
A mainstay of the East Coast DIY scene, Joyer has quietly built a cult following through relentless touring and a consistent run of slow-burn indie rock albums, including 2024’s acclaimed Night Songs. While that record leaned into heavier sounds, On The Other End of the Line… promises a stripped-back approach that’s “bursting with melody and emotion,” suggesting a new chapter for the Sullivan brothers that’s both intimate and expansive.
