Imminence's "Axis Mundi" Is Already Shaping Up to Be Their Biggest Era Yet
Imminence's sixth album "Axis Mundi "arrives on October 2nd. Here's everything we know about the album and its three singles.

With plenty of online teasers and snippets featuring ancient runes, swords, and knights, it was no surprise when Swedish metalcore band Imminence announced their sixth album “Axis Mundi,” releasing on October 2nd, which features the side profile of a medieval knight on a stark red background.
The album name is a Latin phrase referring to a cosmic point or portal connecting heaven, the earth, and the underworld together. But before this announcement arrived on July 22nd, two singles came before.
"The Sword That Never Bends" was released on June 14th, featuring lead singer and violinist Eddie Berg’s impressive clean vocals and high-pitched screams. The verses feature an almost hypnotic guitar riff, while the chorus grows to be massive and theatrical with Imminence’s classic orchestral backing. The song ends with the line “you’ll never see me again”, speaking about purging toxicity from your life and resisting giving in to something–or someone.
The second single, which was released on July 21st, "False Light", allows Berg’s gutturals to truly shine. The track begins with a rasping recitation of the lines “I need to cut you out / Before you settle in”, before instantly throwing its listener into downtuned, distorted guitars and echoing screams. The space between the first chorus and relentless second verse is filled with strings before jumping into ricocheting rhythms, which carry to the end of the song.
"Crestfallen" arrived on the same day as the announcement of “Axis Mundi”, and is one of the most theatrical and cinematic releases of this album cycle. The song seemingly reminisces on a past experience, where guilt and regret continue to linger. “How will you remember me?” it asks, in between heavy chugs and soaring vocals that echo with unsaid words. The final breakdown fades out with a melodic synth faintly going off in the background, before slowly fading away.
Imminence will be touring North America this fall with Dying Wish and GAEREA, as well as Europe in the summer with August Burns Red in support of “Axis Mundi”, available now for presale.
