After a whirlwind journey across the UK and the US, boundary-pushing collective Hello Cosmos have completed their latest sonic adventure, the Keep Digging EP—OUT NOW. Following the success of their debut album Dream Harder and the collaborative remix project Hard Dirt, the band’s creative nucleus remains as restless and innovative as ever, anchored by their Cosmic Glue label and a growing community of artists.
The EP’s final puzzle piece, "Skin", is an urgent, jagged shoegaze-infused broadcast—recorded in Los Angeles but born in the high-energy spontaneity of a jam session in New York. Frontman Ben Robinson (also known for founding Kendal Calling festival) recalls penning the lyrics mid-flight to San Francisco before diving headfirst into recording with producer Hereldeduke in LA. Inspired by California’s hazy skies and a few legal indulgences, "Skin" is a sharp-edged, immersive experience that pulls the listener into Hello Cosmos’ unique blend of chaos and clarity.
The Keep Digging EP is a collision of influences, from the punchy, socially charged spirit of Sleaford Mods and Idles to the sprawling, experimental energy of LCD Soundsystem. From the scathing critique of modern media in "Turn Off The News" to the eerie, Halloween-born title track "Keep Digging", the EP captures a band constantly evolving, experimenting, and expanding their creative reach.
The final track, "Butterfly Wing (Turn It On)", adds another layer to the band’s international storytelling. Written during a trip to Florida, Robinson found inspiration in endless traffic jams, neon billboards, and the surreal excess of American capitalism—recording the track after cruising through the sunset in a rented Mustang.
Recorded over two years in Manchester, Leeds, New York, Florida, Los Angeles, and Stockport, Keep Digging is a sonic journey that embodies Hello Cosmos’ ethos: open, experimental, and always pushing forward. With more releases on the horizon, their creative momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
