Berlin-based post-hardcore band Future Palace has officially released their highly anticipated album, Distortion, now available worldwide via Arising Empire.
Distortion represents a new chapter for Future Palace, blending intense, atmospheric soundscapes with heavy breakdowns and heartfelt melodies. The album explores themes of struggle, resilience, and personal growth, with lead vocalist Maria Lessing offering hauntingly passionate performances throughout.
The album opens with “Uncontrolled,” setting the tone for an intense and evocative ride. Tracks like “Panic Paralysis” feature massive vocal motifs with an arabesque touch, while “They Take What They Want” blends raw metalcore with gentle vocal passages and massive choirs. A notable highlight is “The Echoes of Disparity,” which includes a collaboration with Charle Rolfe from As Everything Unfolds. This track features orchestral interjections and combines brutal screams with chant-like passages to convey psychological struggle.
Despite the album’s emotional intensity, its creation was not without its challenges. Produced by Julian Breucker and Christoph Wieczorek, known for their work with Annisokay and Beyond the Black, the recording process was gruelling. Lessing recorded the album while dealing with a root infection and recovering from wisdom tooth surgery, adding to the authenticity of the songs.
Yet, Distortion carries a glimmer of hope. Tracks like “Decarabia” offer a bittersweet story, while “The Echoes of Disparity” addresses issues of abuse of power and oppression, emphasizing the importance of female support.
In support of the album, Future Palace has announced a headline tour across Europe and the UK, with Our Promise joining as support. The tour will kick off in October 2024, promising fans a chance to experience the album’s intense emotional depth live.
Its clear that Distortion offers a cathartic and immersive experience that is as raw as it is powerful. The album is available on all major streaming platforms, accompanied by visually striking music videos that enhance the listening experience.
