On April 17th, the doors of the Dallas House of Blues open at 5:30 and welcome fans of both ERRA and Currents inside. This is the third to last show of the ‘the silence follows’ Tour, accompanying prog-metal band ERRA’s newest album release ‘silence outlives the earth’.

The first opener—Swedish metalcore outfit AVIANA—kicks off the show with an explosion, sending the crowd instantly head-banging. Their set is relentless as they perform tracks off of their latest album VOID, such as “FATHER” and “STORM ABLAZE.”

The second opener, Caskets, hailing from Leeds, brings us up lighter with ethereal clean vocals before descending right back down into screams with a powerful and cathartic performance featuring songs like “Glass Heart” and “Lost In The Violence.”

The first headliner of the night, Currents, kicks off the set with “So Alone,” giving the crowd a taste of what is to come with nasty, harsh vocals and soaring cleans. “My Severance" serves as the gateway into newer music, with the EP All That Follows releasing in October of 2025. The build-up to “Rise & Fall” is brutally intense as a circle pit is formed, collapsing in on itself as the beat drops into a thunderous rhythm.

An electronic interlude comes next, allowing the crowd to prepare for the next song, “The Death We Seek,” which hits with ferocious power as the crowd joins together in singing as loud as they can. “Apnea” returns us to Current’s first album, kicking the song off with the crowd shouting the line “You’ll never sleep again!” And when the set ends with “It Only Gets Darker,” it serves as an incredibly powerful finish as the crowd and band feed off of each other.

But the night’s not done yet, and when a timer pops up on the screen, the air in the room shifts as the crowd eagerly awaits the night’s final headlining act. When the clock hits zero, the words Act I. are displayed before ERRA takes the stage with a song off of their newest album called “gore of being.” The prog-metal band’s dual vocalists work in harmony, bouncing off of one another as the set continues.

“cicada siren” has the whole room head-banging in seconds as the china cymbal is struck in succession before jumping into the first verse. Act II. is kicked off with “Varnish Canvas” from ERRA’s 2021 self-titled album, lifting the room higher with a hopeful and uplifting tone. The following song “Drift” gives us the full progressive metal outfit with high-pitched riffs and mesmerizing clean and harsh vocals.

Act III. begins with suspense as the crowd awaits the next song, which is “Cure.” The title track brings elements of groove into the classic metalcore genre, and finger-tapping practically shines in this track, with complex riffs being played throughout the majority of the song. “Gungrave” brings us spiraling down, with an incredibly fast, vigorous beat. The crowd shouts the lyrics with passion as the breakdown hits with force. The song “Snowblood” has the crowd jumping and crowd-surfing as the night comes to a perfect close.

From fierce, heavy, beating riffs to ascending, powerful tracks, the silence follows Tour was a perfect display of the talent and duality metalcore brings to music, truly a once in a lifetime experience.
