Chicago songwriter Delaney Bailey has released her new album Concave, out everywhere now via AWAL, and it marks a clear turning point. The record feels bigger, bolder, and more immersive than anything she’s done before, a collection of songs that turn vulnerability into something cinematic and full-bodied.

Across eleven tracks, Bailey moves through loss, desire, anger, and self-examination with a sound that feels deeply personal. Her expressive vocals sit at the centre of layered production that swells and recedes, framing intimate moments against wide emotional backdrops. Concave captures an artist stretching her creative vision while inviting listeners into a fully formed inner world.

The album opens with “How To,” which arrives today with a hazy, animated video. The song reflects on Bailey’s fear of memory loss later in life, a concern shaped by watching women in her family struggle with forgetting as they age. As she enters adulthood and independence, the track wrestles with the pressure to prepare for the future while still fully living in the present.

“I have a genuinely miraculous life, and I shouldn’t waste it waiting, stagnant and scared, for the inevitable to come,” Bailey shares.

Earlier releases from Concave offered glimpses of its emotional range. “Nightshade” explores self-worth and disordered eating with a fragile intensity, while “Far Away” leans into themes of youthful invincibility. “Wake Up,” an electronically tinged ballad, traces the discomfort of realising it’s time to change, pairing atmospheric production with self-directed pleas for growth.

Last summer, Bailey introduced “Lion” alongside a striking official video, fully embracing confidence and independence. With its pulsing energy and empowered visuals, the track signalled a new chapter, one rooted in strength.

Concave is available now on all streaming platforms. Listen below:
