Austin's rising "dreamcore" band Colorblind has just unveiled "Needle Eye," their first single under the Tooth & Nail/Solid State label.
"Needle Eye" blends heavy riffs with airy grooves, creating a dynamic contrast that mirrors the song's exploration of emotional turbulence. The track's powerful instrumentation underscores its introspective theme, which delves into the cyclical nature of toxic behaviours in relationships.
The topic is nothing new for the quartet: their self-titled 2022 EP already showcased Colorblind's ability to craft a story within their songs, bathing them in meaning and emotion, but "Needle Eye" is a progression towards something perhaps more solid. With a haunting melody that gradually builds to a cathartic release, the song captures the raw struggle of self-reflection and the desire to break free from damaging patterns and does it in a very satisfactory way.
"This marks the beginning of a very important chapter for us," they say, and there's no doubt in that. The track hints at the expansive sonic territory they are set to explore in their upcoming full-length debut, expected in 2025.
