Brooklyn-based indie-pop artist KATiiE is back with a fresh, experimental vibe on her new single “Two Ways”, out now. The track is the lead single from her upcoming EP Fallout, due this September.
Originally from Oregon, KATiiE has spent the past eight years honing her ethereal indie-pop style in Brooklyn, blending her siren-like vocals with lush, atmospheric production."Two Ways actually started off as a ballad, which I find funny now," she shares. I wrote a little synth line and sang the melody in a more lilting and wistful way. When I showed my producer John Young the draft I made, he had the idea to flip it and make it more rhythmic and sassy. Up to that point, a lot of songs I had written had a more wistful and soft approach, so this was a new avenue to take and a new headspace to write from that ended up influencing the song to be less passive, and more empowering. This was pretty relevant to the internal journey I was going through to build my self worth and not just wait around for what I want, but demand it, or leave."
The transformation from wistful ballad to rhythmic empowerment perfectly mirrors the song’s message: taking control, asserting yourself, and owning your worth. KATiiE’s production chops, paired with her soothing yet commanding vocals, make “Two Ways” a standout track that’s as playful as it is deeply personal.
Her friends call her “Lavender,” a nod to the calm, enchanting energy she radiates both on and off stage. From her bedroom demos in Ableton to fully produced tracks, KATiiE crafts songs that feel like a personal invitation into her world—one that’s dreamy, introspective, and just a little sassy.
