New York City rock band bloodsports have officially joined the roster at Good English Records. To mark the occasion, the band has announced their debut full-length album, Anything Can Be A Hammer, arriving October 17, 2025.
The first glimpse into the upcoming LP comes in the form of lead single “Rosary,” a slow-burning track that reflects on past relationships and unresolved emotions. “This song was written about a relationship that I ended, and reminiscing about the feelings months after the fact,” shares vocalist and guitarist Sam Murphy. “Lyrically, it’s a very bittersweet song. It looks back positively on the time that was spent but there’s also a layer of regret about the things that never quite came to fruition.”
The track’s emotional weight is matched by its pacing: patient, deliberate, soft and introspective. Murphy sings, “Plans that we made / seem to never happen that way,” encapsulating a sense of quiet resignation before the song swells to its dramatic payoff.
“It’s strange to sing live now because the relationship that it’s referencing has since been rekindled,” Murphy adds, “but I can still connect to those feelings from back then.”
With Anything Can Be A Hammer, bloodsports offer a debut that promises a lot of emotional depth, starting with the aching honesty of “Rosary.”
